MultiTest™ Ammonia
- Measures total and free ammonia down to less than 0.05 mg/L
- Multi-cavity plate for simultaneous testing of up to 6 tests at the same time
- Includes reference for test validation
- Marine or Freshwater
This kit measures total (NH3 and NH4+) and free ammonia (NH3 only) down to less than 0.05 mg/L and is virtually interference free in marine and fresh water. Free ammonia is the toxic form of ammonia (vs. ionized Ammonia NH4+ which is non-toxic) and thus it is much more important to keep an eye on the level of free ammonia in your system. This kit may be used with freshwater or marine water. Unlike other kits on the market, the chemical basis for this test assures that interference from other substances is highly unlikely. MultiTest™ Ammonia performs over 75 tests and contains a reference sample for validation.
MultiTest™ Nitrite/Nitrate
- Measures nitrite to less than 0.1 mg/L and nitrate to less than 0.2 mg/L
- Multi-cavity plate for simultaneous testing of up to 6 tests at the same time
- Includes reference for test validation
- Marine or freshwater
Nitrite is toxic and should be undetectable in any well established aquarium. During cycling, it may exceed 20 mg/L. Nitrate is relatively non-toxic, but it is advantageous to control it to under 20 mg/L.
MultiTest™ Nitrite/Nitrate measures nitrite to less than 0.1 mg/L and nitrate to less than 0.2 mg/L in marine or freshwater. The values reported by this kit are expressed as nitrite and nitrate rather than nitrogen (to convert to nitrogen, simply divide by 3.3 and 4.4, respectively). It performs over 75 tests and contains a reference sample for validation.
MultiTest™ Phosphate
- Measures inorganic phosphate to less than 0.05 mg/L
- Multi-cavity plate for simultaneous testing of up to 6 tests at the same time
- Includes reference for test validation
- Marine or freshwater
Phosphate in natural sea water ranges from less than 0.01 mg/L to 0.3 mg/L. For corals in reef aquaria, such phosphates should be 0.2 mg/L or less. Phosphates are non-toxic to fish and most invertebrates, but are ideally kept below 1 mg/L to minimize algae growth. In freshwater, phosphates are not critical and the allowable concentration is dependent on variables such as nitrate, manganese, iron, and vitamin concentrations, as well as the extent of use of live plants.
MultiTest™ Phosphate measures inorganic phosphate to less than 0.05 mg/L, producing a unique easy to read yellow-green-blue color range in marine and freshwater; however, usually, freshwater phosphate concentrations will be beyond the range of this kit, and dilutions of the sample with distilled water will be required. It performs over 75 tests and contains a reference sample for validation.
MultiTest™ Iron
- Measures iron to less than 0.05 mg/L
- Multi-cavity plate for simultaneous testing of up to 6 tests at the same time
- Includes reference for test validation
- Marine or Freshwater
Iron is of no importance in fish only aquaria; however, iron over 0.5 mg/L may be toxic to some species and should be avoided. Under normal conditions, iron is virtually impossible to maintain at measurable concentrations in seawater. Natural seawater concentration for iron is about 0.01 mg/L. Iron is important in planted aquaria and should be maintained between 0.1 to 0.2 mg/L.
MultiTest™ Iron measures both ionic and most chelated iron in freshwater or marine water to less than 0.05 mg/L. It performs over 75 tests and contains a reference sample for validation.
